Your Cockpit
2 min read
The dashboard isn't "yet another page", it's the home screen of HorseCompanion. It should tell you in the first 5 seconds what's important. Not everything, just the relevant.
Weekly overview
At the top you see the next days as a compact band: which activities are scheduled, who's handling them, which slots are free. One tap on a day opens the daily detail.
Upcoming activities
Below: the next activities chronologically, "Today 5:00 PM riding", "Tomorrow vet appointment", "Friday farrier". Each entry can be expanded or completed with one tap, no need to switch to the detail page.
Care status
How's the routine care doing? A short status band shows when feeding, grooming and exercise last happened. What's longer than the usual interval is highlighted, not as criticism but as a reminder.
Smart notifications
The dashboard spots patterns and surfaces contextual hints when helpful: overdue dewormings, due vaccination boosters, unusual gaps in a routine. You see the hints directly in the dashboard and can disable them per category if they aren't helpful.
Per horse or combined
In the dashboard you can filter to "All horses" (combined view) or pick a single horse. The combined view shows the essentials across all horses, perfect for the morning coffee before you start the day.
Care entry as a direct shortcut
When something is overdue (e.g. a care activity, a feeding), a red dot appears on the care icon in the topbar. One tap takes you straight to the care page, which bundles all overdue tasks. The dashboard stays calm, but the important stuff doesn't get lost.
Frequently asked questions
How do I switch between horses?
Through the horse switcher at the top of the topbar. It shows the colour dot of the active horse, or a stack of the first three horse colours with a counter in multi-horse mode. One tap opens the picker, a second tap switches the active horse.
What are smart notifications?
Contextual hints from your data, e.g. when a deworming is overdue or an activity hasn't happened for an unusually long time. They appear only when relevant.
Do I see all horses at once or one by one?
Both. In the dashboard you can filter to "All horses" (combined view) or pick a single horse. The overview fits the morning coffee with one horse just as well as an account with four.
